Why hire a running coach?
Each year thousands of people start running, they set themselves goals and targets, a few will be lucky, but most will experience niggles, some of these will give up, others will run through the niggles thinking that if they do more mileage and push themselves harder they will get stronger. They may download a plan which may be unrealistic resulting in overtraining or undertraining, neither is optimal and after the race, they may not know what went wrong and continue to repeat their mistakes.
A good running coach:
- helps you run efficiently, avoid injury and train consistently*
- saves you money in the long-term by reducing the number of visits to the doctor, chiropractor, physio and osteopath
- is up to date with the latest training techniques
- helps you put together a training plan that fits your unique set of circumstances
- helps you achieve your goal and be the best you can be. Setting realistic SMART goals, whether its to enjoy running, run faster for longer or qualify for a prestigious race
- provides empirically backed nutritional advice (from England athletics)
- increases motivation, confidence and support
- teaches you to Run Smart: learn to warm up, perform appropriate drills and stretches and to heed the body
- is qualified in strength and conditioning and can provide bespoke exercises for core, glutes, hamstrings and general athleticism
- will have over ten years’ experience
- is highly qualified and insured
- provides you with the skills and habits to sustain lifelong running efficiency
*its good to start with a Runners MoT, which includes movement and video analysis to pinpoint areas of weakness and potential injury
